THE SONG ROOMS MUSIC and LYRIC WORKSHOPS AND CONCERT PERFORMANCE BIRMINGHAM, 2009
An exciting partnership project between the CBSO, Acorns hospice Walsall and Joseph Leckie Community Technology College is due to start in July 2009 and culminate in a public concert on 5th October, World Hospice week.
The workshops and concert is part of the Rosetta Live festival which begins in June 2009 and presents theatre, film, dance and music performances created by hospice users across the West Midlands.
Harvey Brough, award winning composer and musician will be leading the music workshops that will take place at Acorns Hospice and Joseph Leckie school, inspiring students to work together with CBSO musicians to create a unique track that will be recorded in a professional studio.

The project is an opportunity for the young people at Acorns Walsall to give creative expression to something that matters through creating lyrics and music with the support of professional performers, composers and producers.
The opportunity work alongside Joseph Leckie school who will feature on the final CD and provide a backing chorus at the concert, is a wonderful opportunity for local young people living with different circumstances to come together and share common ground and build lasting friendships. The participants will experience the process of creating, producing and recording music with professionals from the music industry and we hope that sharing this experience will break down misconceptions and barriers surrounding living with illness.
